In accordance with the law, the Communauté de Communes (Community of Communes) exercises the following responsibilities on behalf of its member communes:

1. COMMUNITY LAND USE PLANNING:

1.1 Master plan and sector plan
1.2 Rural planning and management
1.3 Zones d'aménagement concerté (Mixed Development Areas) for the benefit of the community
1.4 Monitoring of operations to protect sensitive natural areas
1.5 Monitoring and support for risk reduction policies in areas liable to flooding

2. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT:

2.1 Development, maintenance, management and equipping of enterprise zones for commerce, small businesses and the service sector for the benefit of the community:
- The Zone d'activités de la Loge enterprise zone in Azay-le-Rideau
- The Zone d'activités de la Croix enterprise zone in Cheillé
- The Zone d'activités de la Gare enterprise zone in Rivarennes
- The Zone d'activités de la Châtaigneraie enterprise zone in Saché

2.2 Actions to promote economic development:
- Support for economic development policies
- Help for business start-ups in accordance with the legal provisions in force
- Acquisition of land and property to facilitate the establishment of economic activities
- Planning and implementation of actions designed to promote economic activity

2.3 Actions to promote agriculture:
Support for agricultural activities organised by the financing of research into development projects and support for agricultural development and diversification policies

2.4 Actions to promote tourism:
- Research into and creation of new structures for welcoming holidaymakers to the area
- Support for operational structures for tourism
- Management of the Office de Tourisme Syndicat d'Initiative Intercommunal (Intercommunal Tourist Information Office)

3. SOCIAL HOUSING POLICY AND ACTION IN THE COMMUNITY INTEREST, VIA COMMUNITY INTEREST OPERATIONS IN FAVOUR OF HOUSING FOR DISADVANTAGED PEOPLE.

3.1 Social housing policy via the creation of emergency accommodation, and actions in support of improving housing for disadvantaged people and senior citizens
3.2 Monitoring of housing supply and demand through the creation of a housing research unit
3.3 Support for contractual policies for housing renovation: PLH (Local Living Conditions Programme) and OPAH (Programmed Housing Improvement Operation)

4. CREATION OR DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF COMMUNITY PUBLIC HIGHWAYS

4.1 Creation, maintenance and management of public access roads for the département -level network of enterprise zones for the benefit of the community
4.2 Creation, maintenance and management of public access roads for the département -level network of Zones d'aménagement concerté (Mixed Development Areas) for the benefit of the community

5. SOCIAL POLICY

Implementation of a policy of support and guidance for people in difficulty, in conjunction with the various social services departments and public services responsible for social actions; assistance with job seeking and training

6. CULTURAL POLICY IN THE COMMUNITY INTEREST

6.1 Support for the organisation of cultural or heritage-related events of benefit to the entire community
6.2 Establishment of a computer network for municipal libraries

7. AMENITIES IN THE COMMUNITY INTEREST

7.1 Study, construction and equipping of amenities for the benefit of the community (sporting and cultural amenities and public offices for public services or services to the public), covering the needs of at least half of the total population of the communes.
7.2 Construction and management of tax collection premises
7.3 Management and extension of the local Gendarmerie headquarters .

By agreement, the Community of Communes may become involved in the management of public amenities that fall outside of this scope, or on behalf of communes that do not belong to the Community of Communes of the Pays d'AZAY LE RIDEAU.

8. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND PROMOTION

8.1 Organisation of the collection, removal and recovery of household waste
8.2 Providing representation at the s yndicat mixte de collecte et de traitement des ordures ménagères (Joint Syndicate for the Collection and Processing of Household Waste)
8.3 Development, management and maintenance of the following watercourses:
- Indre
- Vieux Cher
8.4 Execution of work to improve the quality and drainage of water in the river basins (apart from daily maintenance and excluding canalised collection networks)
8.5 Representation at the meetings of the Parc Naturel Régional Loire-Anjou-Touraine (Loire-Anjou-Touraine National Park) and the SMICTOM ( Syndicat Mixte du Traitement des Ordures Ménagères du Chinonais [Joint Syndicate for the Processing of Household Waste in the Chinon Area).

9. DEVELOPMENT AND MONITORING OF CONTRACTUAL POLICIES

Performance of diagnostic studies, submission of policy proposals and participation in the implementation of actions and the drafting of technical documents in the framework of contracts with the State, the Conseil Régional (Regional Council), the Conseil Général ( Départemen t-level General Council) and any other bodies involved in promoting communal structures.

10. ACCOMMODATING TRAVELLERS

Creation, development and management of areas to accommodate travellers.

11. COMPUTERISED SCANNING OF THE LAND REGISTRY

Organisation, financing and management of the digital scanning of the land registries of the member communes. In this framework, membership of the S yndicat Intercommunal d'Energie d'Indre-et-Loire (Indre-et-Loire Intercommunal Energy Syndicate).
